Here are some of our asphalt repair services:
This is the most common repair performed for distressed asphalt areas. This repair involves removing the damaged section of asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt that is equal to or greater in depth than the existing asphalt was. It is important to try and remove the entirety of the damaged area for replacement to prevent compromising the new repair with surrounding asphalt that is still compromised. Another important factor is the depth of repair. Most light duty parking lots will have between 2″ and 4″ of asphalt existing. We like to go back with at least what was there, if not more to ensure the repair holds up. This will also depend on the circumstances that led to the failure in the first place.
Asphalt patching is a cheaper alternative in areas where the asphalt has cracked, but the base is still stable, or in areas where potholes have occurred.
This process begins by cleaning the repair area and applying a tack coat to help the new asphalt adhere to the existing surface. A layer of asphalt is then installed upon the existing surface; the depth will vary depending on the severity of the existing damage. Patching is more affordable; however it will not last nearly as long as removal and replacement. Eventually cracking will reflect through the new patch, or spread beyond the patch.
When reviewing estimates, pay attention to how many square feet or square yards the contractor is intending to repair. Pay attention as well to the depth of the repairs. Some contractors may figure less area and less asphalt thickness to win the job.
However, you will pay for that in the long run with a shortened life expectancy. Always feel free to call us with any questions or clarifications you may need. At the end of the day, we want the customer to be happy with what they get.
