Raleigh Paving’s story began in 1925 with a simple idea: to create parking lots, roads and paved surfaces that would stand the test of time. We started with a few tools and machines, a few determined, hard-working people, and most of all, a belief that quality work is non-negotiable.
Over time, Raleigh Paving has become the go-to contractor for commercial asphalt or concrete paving projects, and as a fourth-generation, family-owned business, we’ve set the standard for long-lasting and cost-effective paving results. What started as a small operation has now grown into a trusted name across the state, known for our commitment to delivering quality work and customer satisfaction.

Paul Thomann
President
With a lifetime of experience in the paving and grading industry, Paul has established himself as a respected leader. He is known for his exceptional problem-
solving skills and a team-oriented approach that emphasizes dedication and collaboration. Paul’s
family-focused mindset has been a cornerstone of his success. In retirement, he enjoys the
outdoors and pursues his passions for photography, farming, and gardening.
Joe Thomann
VP of Operations
Joe has worked in the industry for over 20 years and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations. Leveraging his strong leadership and excellent communication skills, Joe works to keep customers informed and ensure the team remains organized and focused. Outside of work, Joe enjoys boating, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Dan Thomann
Senior Project Manager
Dan brought a strong IT background and extensive experience in asphalt and paving to his role. He excels in managing jobs from the bid stage to completion, overseeing contracts, scheduling, and project management with a leadership style rooted in teamwork and problem-solving. Outside of work, Dan enjoys the outdoors, boating, fishing, and spending quality time with his family.
Chad Hensley
Project Manager and Estimator
Chad is known for his problem-solving skills and attention to detail. He excels in managing and estimating projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule while coordinating effectively with crews and customers. Outside of work, Chad enjoys hunting, the outdoors, and metalworking and fabricating.
Brian Smith
Project Manager and Estimator
Brian brings a strong background in project management and a keen eye for detail to his role. Known for his precision in estimating and planning, Brian ensures projects are executed with the highest standards. He is detail-oriented and an effective communicator. Outside of work, Brian enjoys fishing and spending time with his family.
Steve Thomann
Field Superintendent & Safety Manager
Steve oversees field operations with a strong commitment to maintaining high safety standards. He plays a crucial role in managing crews and ensuring projects are executed efficiently, safely, and on time. Outside of work, Steve enjoys outdoor adventures and spending time with his family.
Jim Piasecki
Field Superintendent
Jim began his career in the asphalt industry in 1994 in Western New York with our parent company. He relocated with us to Raleigh in 2004 and has gained extensive expertise in heavy equipment operation, underground utility installation and repair, site work supervision, grading, and paving. Jim excels at identifying and resolving issues when site conditions deviate from project plans and specifications, ensuring that projects stay on track and meet all requirements.
Tracy Silver
Office Manager at Raleigh Paving
Tracy is an indispensable part of the team who ensures smooth operation of the company by overseeing the office operations. She coordinates communications and provides exceptional support to both the team and clients, leveraging her outstanding organizational skills. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets.

Jordan is essential in keeping the office organized and efficient. She manages daily administrative tasks and ensures smooth communication between the team and clients. Outside of the office, Jordan enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
