Repair Cracks and Potholes – If you see cracks or potholes starting to form, you should address it as soon as possible with a high-quality crack filler or hire a professional to make the necessary repairs. Filling in cracks prevents water from seeping in and damaging the asphalt.

Address Drainage Issues – See that water is not pooling on the asphalt surface as this can lead to erosion and weakening of the asphalt. The wettest months in North Carolina are from July through September, and can cause your asphalt to deteriorate faster. Clean and maintain nearby gutters and drains to ensure proper water flow.

Control Vegetation Growth – Remove any weeds or grass growing through cracks. These can expand cracks and cause further damage. Maintain the edges of your asphalt to prevent roots from nearby plants from damaging the surface.

Temperature Management – During extremely hot days in North Carolina, lightly spray the asphalt with water to cool it down and prevent softening. Try to avoid parking heavy vehicles on the asphalt during peak heat hours.

Markings and Signs – Repaint any faded lines or markings to ensure safety and aesthetics. Check and replace any worn-out reflective signs to maintain visibility.
